Where’s Your Head At is a visual exploration of mental complexity, self-protection, and the dynamics of personal identity. It consists of a round form surrounded by six outstretched limbs pointing in different directions, symbolizing the many facets of the self that are constantly in motion. These limbs reflect the various influences and responsibilities pulling at us—thoughts, emotions, expectations, and ambitions—that often confuse and challenge our inner world.
The structure of the artwork is covered with a coat of glass-like hairs, which provide both physical and symbolic protection. These glass hairs represent the vulnerability of the human experience, yet also the desire to shield the inner self from external influences. They form a barrier that emphasizes the fragility of existence but also the strength and ability to survive amidst chaos.
The round shape in the center represents the self, the core of the individual, while the limbs visualize the sprawling and often chaotic flow of thoughts, memories, ideas, and desires. This mental landscape is sometimes perceived as a lack of focus or control, but it is also a source of creativity and energy. The work invites reflection on how we cope with this internal chaos, the search for balance, and how we protect ourselves in a world that can often be overwhelming.
