In the spring of 2025, the Bernardine de Neeve Dutch Glass Prize of the Association of Friends of Modern Glass (VVMG) will be awarded for the 10th time. The Bernardine de Neeve Prize is the only major glass prize in the Netherlands that is awarded once every three years. Artists who use glass in their art can compete for this prestigious prize.

Through an open call, 60 artists applied with their work. The jury, Myrjam Knol (curator Glasrijk glass festival), Barbara Nanning (artist) and Titia Felderhof (director Foundation UNexpected Glass) selected 28 artists that presented 2 of their works during Glasrijk Glass Festival 2024.
Three nominees were selected during this exhibition.

I'm honored to be selected as one of the 3 nominees that receive a budget to make new work. Florian van Dalen and Patricia Overdam are the other two artists that are nominated. We will present our new - and existing works at the National Glass Museum in 2025. During this exhibition the jury will award the winner of the 10th Bernadine de Neeve Dutch Glass Prize.
Throughout 2024, this plural exhibition, reinterpretation of a theme that is more relevant than ever, offers the public the opportunity to explore the facets of the society of overconsumption through several themes: the relationship with money , which conditions all excesses; food waste and planned obsolescence, which generate tons of waste each year, endangering the planet's ecological balance; finally, the new perceptions and new codes of a society which defines standards that are difficult to achieve. Between familiar images, symbolism, cultural and historical references and “incriminating” works, the glass pieces on display rightly highlight contemporary excesses.

The Shape of What I See shows work by four contemporary artists who come from very different fields: installation art, paintings and multi media art, ceramics and glass.

The title The Shape Of What I See translates to ‘making our thoughts physical through the artworks we create'. The four artists are very different from each other, but at the core of their work there are commonalities and connections in the subjects their works speak about.

Patricia Burgers - contemporary ceramics
Krista Israel - contemporary glass, mixed media
Marja Meijering - paintings and multi media
Krista van Norel - installations, mixed media

This past year, we once again searched high and low across the German and international glass scene to find exciting glass art to enrich the Ernsting Foundation’s collection. Our trips to exhibitions, trade fairs, galleries and artists’ studios were a great success, as the glass art we encountered there was bursting with creativity and professionalism. We were presented with a colourful and wide-ranging palette of diverse works, from polychrome to purist, from fragile to compact, from refreshingly whimsical to socially critical, from lively narrative art to serene aesthetics.

This exhibition promotes 12 unique online presentations by 12 artist that are pushing the medium beyond the norm. One per month. Creating work that is probably not in grandma's collection…..yet. These artists are extremely innovative and I propose that they will all be important in the future of the glass medium. 'Krista Israel, a renowned mixed-media glass artist based in the Netherlands, has been an integral part of the NGG (Next Generation Glass) community since its inception in 2021. Over the past year, Krista, in collaboration with Titia Felderhof, co-created UNexpected Glass in the Netherlands and played a pivotal role in founding the Netherlands Biannual. Together, they curated its first edition which opens in early spring 2024. Krista recently curated a groundbreaking crossover exhibit, seamlessly blending the worlds of photography and glass art.
Her influence extends far beyond the borders of her homeland; her work has graced the pages of prestigious publications, including a feature on the cover of Neues Glass Magazine. Her artistic journey has been showcased in numerous museum exhibitions across Europe and Asia.
One of her standout achievements is the Not Grandma's Glass Exhibition, a collection of vibrant and striking works that delve into her unique perspective on the contemporary world. The exhibition features an array of colorful and impressive pieces, including abstract sculptures in hues of pink and white that ingeniously incorporate elements like doll parts. Krista Israel's art not only captivates the eye but also invites viewers to contemplate the intricate connections between traditional and unconventional materials, as well as the profound messages embedded within her thought-provoking creations' - Aaron Schey, owner Habatat Detroit
Chengdu Art Museum, Tianfu Art Park - Time Gravity, Chengdu Fine Art Biennale (PRC)

The 2023 Chengdu Biennale, themed Time Gravity aims to express that time as the dialectic scale of the moment and eternity, has an inseparable and inherent gravity itself. Every moment is both a recollection of history and a prospect f.or the future, giving human civilization a multi-dimensional interpretation and presentation. Gravity is invisible but perceptible. As technology evolves, the Internet, big data, and virtual reality have become new gravity for people in different times and spaces.

My installation Until The Answer Comes Or A Worry Disappears will be shown during the biennale.

Ein Herz für Glas/A Heart of Glass - Galerie Handwerk (DE)

'The title of this exhibition is not an allusion to Werner Herzog's film Werner Herzog's film "A Heart of Glass", but rather the to one of the most fascinating materials with which man designs, with which man creates. There may be one parallel there may nevertheless be, it is the unconditional and love for a subject, which the human being is and at the same time as an allegory of transience' - Wolfgang Lösche, gallery manager.
